Mitra Memarzia

 

 

Mitra's artistic practice has been influenced by exploring a variety of styles and media, which include; writing, photography, installation,film, performance, sculpture,

illustration and interactive technologies.


Her main artistic aim is to create inspirational dialogue and exchange through a variety of creative productions.
She directs her creative practices towards connecting

and collaborating with a wide range of creative individuals and organisations. Having completed a PhD in fine art, her specialist subject is the construction and representation of identities.

 

The relationship of the public with her work is central component of her practice in developing socially engaged projects, that seek to engage and inspire. 

 In addition, Mitra is associate lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University and is on the board of directors for a-n The Artist Information Company and dvisor to AIR (Artist Interaction and Representation).

 

Mitra was recently artist in residence at The New Art Gallery in Walsall (18th Janl until 18th April 2010), where she opened an Unwanted Gift Shop.

The Public were asked to bring in their unwanted gifts, which were then turned into artworks! Visit the website for more information.

 

Currently showing a collaborative project with Sandra Hall and Friction Arts called  Heard and Not Seen 2 at Gallery 36: Ways of seeing at Birmingham Museums and Art Galleries

 until 22nd Aug 2010. The project will be touring to London as part of the Ramadan Festival and onto The New Art Exchange in May 2011.

Heard and Not Seen 2: Be Seen,  photography day held at Birmingham Museums and Art Galleries 2010.
